Michael Owen Completes Shock Move To Red Devils
Biggest transfer shocker of the summer. No, not Cristiano Ronaldo's ridiculously expensive move to Real Madrid. No, it's Michael Owen's transfer to Manchester United.
The story only gained momentum on Thursday but since then, it has been a whirlwind ride as Owen completed his medical yesterday and was officially announced as a Red Devil today.
He signs on a two year deal with an option of a third year and will be getting basic pay per week. Down from his usual 100 000 pounds a week deal at Newcastle United.
Critics have been calling this move bonkers, as althought Owen is a proven goal scorer, he is injury prone and has only made 58 starts in the last four years.
But Sir Alex Ferguson is undeterred as he has nothing to lose, and everything to gain from with this free transfer.
It could be a shrewd piece of business, or another flop. We'll find out soon enough.
