Ana Ivanovic was unceremoniously dumped out of the Rogers Cup in Montreal by Austrian teenager, Tamira Paszek, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.

Ivanovic committed 40 unforced errors, including 31 on the forehand, suffering a heart-breaking loss that might see her lose the number one ranking she has held since she won the French Open.

Darn it.

If Jelena Jankovic goes to the Montreal final and wins it, she's going to leap frog over Ana and claim the World Number 1 spot before the Beijing Olympics and US Open.

Maria Sharapova pulled out because of a shoulder injury and now, she won't be representing Russia in Beijing next week.

Double darn it.

On the men's tour.

Rafael Nadal could take the world number 1 position from Roger Federer, who's like the reigning king of tennis and he has held the world number 1 ranking for 4 and a half years, which is like forever.

I'm kinda happy for Nadal, because he's been the prince of tennis for far too long and deserves to be king. He's been number two for a record 158 weeks.

That is a long time, playing second fiddle. Now it's his chance to shine the spotlight on himself.

But that could possibly signal the end of a great Federer era. This is Fed's worst season since 2004. He hasn't won any of the 3 Grand Slams and has won only 2 minor titles.

Now everyone is counting down to the day when Nadal will claim the number 1 spot. Nadal has had a superb season, becoming the first man to win both the French Open and Wimbledon titles consecutively.

The countdown begins.

Nadal is 3 games away from making history.

Chris Eagles has joined Burnley FC. That sucks because I was so certain that he was going get first team chances next season.

Oh well.
